“I turn around and it all looks the same…”

Everything is slowly falling into place this week.

I just posted an email interview I did with the bassist of Blueline Medic and in my introduction I was musing on how delayed it was. I assumed I had announced it about a month ago, only to look back and see it announced on MARCH THIRD. The last month of school must have absolutely destroyed my sense of time.

I can probably better understand what day it was by thinking back to what stage Bush’s War On Common Sense was at then.

Kids make me laugh. Someone submitted something to Punknews the day Baghdad fell about us being (and I’m paraphrasing) “typical fucking coward liberals for posting anti-war stuff but not posting anything about jubilant Iraqis celebrating.” Forgive me if I didn’t see that boy who lost both his arms dancing in the streets, let alone the dead civilians and soldiers. Maybe there was a big zombie parade of celebration but I must have been watching M*A*S*H when it was on. I hope someone taped it for me.

The CBC just interviewed a social psychologist about the media’s coverage of the SARS outbreak. They specifically analyzed if they were fear mongering or not. That’s why I love the CBC, I’ve never seen CNN turn a critical eye on themselves. It really bothers me that I gave the new Buzzcocks record a positive review and two weeks later it still has less than 1000 hits. Meanwhile a more recent review of the rather generic new Gob album has over fifteen hundred. I’m assuming all those hits are just people arguing about something pointless but it still bugs me. If you’re one of the poor saps who actually reads this blog I command you to go buy “Singles Going Steady,” listen to it, listen to it again, and then if you’re not satisfied use it to commit Seppuku.

On Easter at a bit after midnight I was walking around a cemetery with my goofball friends. It was surprisingly serene and very nice. Goths would be disappointed. I’m amazed that our merry band of atheists still had quite a bit of respect for the dead. No one did anything stupid. We did find this old path along the train tracks that lead to a big hydro service road beside one of the reservoir canals. Only in Niagara.
