“Loosen your collar, shake off the wires”
Point of organization: My reviews for the new Warsawpack, Constantines and Rancid records are online. All three of which I enjoy particularly The Constantines, whom are easily frontrunners for this year’s all-too-important top 10 lost.
Yes, I am stuck in a “High Fidelity” esque record-obsessed life, thank you.
The Cons were supposed to play here in Guelph on the day of the big eastern seaboard blackout. They never made it into town (the chaos of the Toronto streets combined with a members injured hand pretty much did those chances in). I did however head down to the venue anyways, hoping to catch some sort of acoustic set from someone… I wasn’t disappointed. Ottawa’s Andrew Vincent played a really enjoyable acoustic set by candlelight. The “venue” was this very atmospheric warehouse under a music store that was filled with couches. There were no more than 30 people there, so the evening was pretty cool. I wish I knew someone who was there though; I more-or-less lurked in the shadows and listened.
The next day I was in Toronto for the Hot Water Music / Bouncing Souls show. While we were late for Hot Water’s set, the Souls were fantastic. The show was rushed to avoid any further power outages, so that accounts for the early set times. I guess we were a bit too fashionably late. I’ll make it up to HWM and catch them when they’re back up here, they put on a great show.
Next Monday is the SEX PISTOLS in Toronto with the Dropkick Murphys and Reverend Horton Heat. I’d be excited if these final weeks of work would give me a few minutes to breathe and BE excited.
