I try harder than most to do my civic duty and support Canadian content, and when it comes to television that’s a much more difficult pill to swallow than in music. I could run on for a good while talking about great Canadian bands; home grown television less so. Yet when there are actually Canadian shows on the air worth watching they all air at the same time. Tonight at 8:00 faithful canucks were treated to the simultaneous broadcast of new episodes of Corner Gas, Monday Report and The Hour. Do CTV and the CBC live in separate bubbles? Is there some cross-hall rivalry between the main CBC network and CBC Newsworld? Does anyone other than me think that the fans of admittingly weird Canadian humor that watch Monday Report just might cross over into the demographic of Corner Gas? Madness!

At least I can catch new Corner Gas when it’s rebroadcast Sunday at 8. I mean it has no competition then, only the Simpsons… but who’s ever heard of that?
